Another Trip of Penang

3 08 2008

On Saturday 3rd August 2008, I was joining the Methodist church trip to few interesting places at Penang island. A few days before the trip, I was excited to join the trip. However, on the Friday night, I was thinking: “Oh man, I wanna to sleep till Saturday morning ler.” Suddenly, my mind almost make me to quit the trip just for sleeping. Haha. Still I able to wake up on the morning to join the trip. The group was consists of around 80 people with mostly USM students (I think I’m the one only that are not, HAHA)

First destination of the trip (around 9 am to 11 am): War Musuem of Penang
Never in my mind before, these kind of museum existed anywhere in Malaysia. According to the staff of the museum, this is one of its kind in the country as most of old World War II camp site have been destroyed by time or land development. Here I can see some underground army base and artillery storage places. However, those places also served other purposes especially when it is taken by Japanese army after they have defeated the British army during WW2. Guest what, it served as prisons and detention camps for those who opposed the Japanese occupation of Malaya

Second destination (around 9.30 am to 12.30 pm):Aquarium of Penang
Enough of history, we headed to more natural things which is the water living creature. Here there are exhibits of various kinds of fishes and others sea creatures such as the turtles, star fishes and coral reefs. The one that excited me the most is the sharks in one of the big aquarium. Haha, I never been so close to sharks (don’t laugh at me, ok)

Third Destination (around 1 pm to 2.30 pm): Tesco
Afternoon coming, we go to Tesco at Jelutong (I’m still not yet familiar with Penang, so any mistakes please notify me, Haha…) for our lunch. As the area around has few food court too, I was indecisive about where to eat. So Emily suggested that we should go eat inside Tesco instead. So we and few others went to Tesco and see what it offered to us. After finishing our dinner there are still time left for us to go jalan jalan at Tesco.

Final Destination (around 3 pm to 6 pm): Pantai Teluk Kumbar
Here I mean the final destination for our trip, not like in file, Haha. Upon arrival, we all rest a bit while enjoying the scene at the beach. But it seems to the beach wasn’t so clean especially the area of grass where we going to have our activities later on. After some prayers and singing some songs, we are divided into 8 groups. The first game that we going to play is the “creative group member introduction” My group decided that we will be marching the army style except that we will be marching by same legs same hands (haha, what is it?!) The second game that we are going to play is the station based group game. We must cooperate in order to win some points at each station. To add some excitement, there are people who will be “responsible” to catch our team members until all of us are gone. The team leaders will be the one that responsible to protect them. Me at first played in the role of catching other group members and ended up playing with my group members. In the end, my group gets the third place. Haha…

After that, we headed to Teluk Bayan’s food court to have our dinner together. I arrived at my house at around 7.30 pm and I was feeling tired but happy because it was really an enjoyable day for me. As I planning to go sleep on 10 pm, Ahmad invited me to play DoTA. Haha the game lasted almost 1 and half hour. In the end, I fall asleep as soon I on the bed. Haha…

PS: Feel so sleepy when going to church service at Pulau Tikus the next morning. ZzZzZzz…

4 weeks down, 20 weeks to go

3 08 2008

It have been one month since I’m here at Penang for my internship. Working days isn’t the same as what we going through as studying days. Many things that we have to learn and pick up ourselves because no one (but not exactly for my case because I still have some helpful colleagues to teach me almost everything that I needed to learn for this period, hehe) Here want to thank you all especially my company training supervisor.

It seems to be an enjoyable days for me as I get to know many new people especially those who are studying at USM. Haha, it’s time to expand my friends’ network. Most of them I know are from Christian fellowship members. Thanks for giving me this opportunity to get know more about Christianity. Hope getting to know more can help me in the future, perhaps.

Actually I getting used to working hours now by making some list of things that I want or have to do during office hour. It is because my company nowadays want me to gain more knowledge about Java programming language, Oracle database, and Linux operating system. According to my supervisor, those tools will be used for the company upcoming projects which currently still in planning and designing phases. After “working” for 4 weeks, I finally get my first ever money of my own. (haha, I only works with my parents before at their shop, opsss…)

Finally, I want to wish all my course mates especially those guys who had been staying at hostel with me together for the past 3 years; good luck and have a peace of mind for work.  Enjoy it! I certainly won’t be hoping our next meeting will be on our convocation day.

As the countdown to the end of my industrial training continue, I hope the next 20 weeks will be much wonderful and enjoyable days ahead. Just pray for it.
